Area Middle School Golf Clubs
had a successful season!

Three golf club teams from Marshall, Coldwater, and Centreville areas made up the 2016 season!  Over 70 middle school junior golfers from beginners to advanced abilities were able to learn the game, practice, and compete in four separate matches.

Each team hosted their own 9 hole match and there was one season finale championship.  The practice schedule per team began mid-March at The Foundation Golf Center and moved to the hosting golf course once players could be outside.

At the matches, competitors were grouped in two ways, individual format and scramble format based on each players own ability.  Those that played their own ball tee’d off from approximately 5500 yards and the scramble format players tee’d off from 150-180 yards per hole, which was a great way to introduce new players to the game.  The scramble format also proved to help beginners enjoy the game without the pressure of being responsible for every shot.  Volunteer parents were very helpful as each group had a scorekeeper walk along to help keep score.

The Season Finale Championship gave each team’s participants a chance to win a medal as awards were given to the top two low individuals per team and medals to the low scramble team.
